The Decision

It’s not fair! It is not fair. They only found him guilty because he is black. This is just not fair. Tom Robinson is an innocent man and he is getting sent to jail for doing nothing. The real reason that Mayaella was raped was because of Bob Ewell not Tom Robinson. It is disgusting that a person could completely lie and send another innocent person to jail.

The Court Case

Scout and I saw Mr. Raymond, a wealthy white man with a black wife and mulatto children. He was drinking out of a paper bag and he offered me some to drink. I accepted it, even though Scout told me not to. I took a sip and realized that it was not alcohol, it was just coke. I confronted him on it and he told me that him drinking from the paper bag was just a cover-up for liking blacks more then whites. I walked away from Mr. Raymond and went back into the courtroom with Scout. Calpurnia came in with a note and gave it to Mr. Finch. We had been found out. Mr. Underwood took some of the blow for us by saying that we had been there since one o clock. In the end Mr. Finch told us that we had to go home and eat and then we could come back to the courtroom. So we did. We got back in the nick of time and heard the verdict. It was decided that Tom Robinson was found guilty.

A fun day

Man was today fun. At around 10 o’ clock Jem, Scout and I snuck out of the house. We followed Jem and Scout’s dad to the center of the town. We saw him reading a newspaper, so we thought that nothing was happening. We were about to go home when suddenly a bunch of guys came up to the jail and told Mr. Finch to leave, so we went to investigate. It turned out that it was Mr. Cunningham, the father of Scout’s classmate Walter Cunningham. He was telling Mr. Finch to get out of the way so Scout, Jem and I jumped in and backed up Mr. Finch. I couldn’t believe it! Mr. Underwood came out with a loaded double barrel shotgun and said that he would make sure that no one got into that jail. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

Running Away from Home

I couldn't take them anymore. I just couldn't do it. My mom got remarried to this guy. I don't like him at all and they were not giving me enough attention, so I took matters into my own hands. I took a train from Meridian to Maycomb. There was still a good distance from there to Jem and Scout's house. So I walked and jumped into the back of a pick-up-truck. I think I went about 12 or so miles. I finally made it to the Finch's house and then I snuck in and hid under Scout's bed. I am so happy to be out of Merdian and back in my home.

Going to See Boo

Maybe we should have obeyed Mr. Finch all summer. Today was a very strange day. Jem, Scout and I went to go try and see Boo today and that was not a good idea. It was all going ok until we peered into a window and saw him. We saw Boo Radely. All of sudden there was an extremely loud noise. Someone shot off a shotgun round directly behind us. I don't know who it was but we got out of there as fast as we could. We went under a fence and Jem's pants got stuck. He couldn't get them free so we left them there. After we got home there were a bunch of our neighbors outside. They were talking about how Boo's brother shot at a "Negro". Then Mr. Finch saw Jem without his pants on and asked him were they were, which I cleverly said that I won them in a game of strip poker. Later that night Jem went and got his pants from under the fence.

The Boo Radely Game!

Today we played The Boo Radely game. This game is where Jem, Scout and I go and try to see Boo. We came so close to seeing him, and then Mr. Finch caught us. He told us not to go over to Boo's place because he was a strange man. Even though I know that were not suppose to go over there I still think that he is not a bad man. I am going to try to get Jem to disobey Mr. Finch so around the end of the summer we can go see him.

My Second Summer in Maycomb

School is over and that means that it is time for me to go back to Maycomb for the summer. I am so excited to go back to my aunt’s house and see Scout and Jem again. I like school, but I mean I enjoy my time in Maycomb so much more. I really wish that I could just go and live with my aunt in Maycomb. Meridian is such a boring place for a kid my age. There is no one to hang out with. The only thing that I do in Meridian is go to school and wish that I were back in Maycomb
